Court Orders Cancellation of MEDDPICC Trademark Registration

On 21 April 2026, the Honourable Wendy Beetlestone, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania issued a summary-judgment ruling in MEDDICC Ltd v. 01 Consulting LLC d/b/a MEDDIC Academy and Darius Lahoutifard. The court’s Order and accompanying Opinion are reproduced in full below.

What the Court Ordered

1. Entered a declaratory judgment of non-infringement in favour of MEDDICC Ltd.
2. Dismissed the defendants’ trademark counterclaims with prejudice.
3. Directed the Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office to cancel U.S. Trademark Registration No. 6,489,058 for the term MEDDPICC, pursuant to 15 U.S.C. § 1119, on the ground that the term is generic for the relevant goods and services.
